Putt To The Picture

Target focussed golf is about getting a state of mind  for each shot (Chemical Edge Technology) and then allowing the subconscious to execute that shot.

Now initially this can be a hard concept to engage and just as hard to execute until you find your own way of ensuring that you can keep the target focussed in your minds eye, find the feel (state of mind) for that target and shot and get used to just hitting to the target in your mind.

Tiger does it and if it’s good enough for the best in the world it’s good enough for the rest of the world

See Putt To The Picture Below

Thanks In Advance

Narrow Mindedness Kills Spirit and Drive

“Narrow mindedness” and “Focus” are similar in some ways and yet they have major differences which set themselves apart in what they can do for you…

Sitting in a series of meetings today I was reminded of these.

Some Similarities; Both involve:

  • Keeping the same view point throughout no matter what the distraction
  • A way of thinking
  • States of mind that the individual is in throughout

Some Differences:

  • Focus is … maintaining a sense of purpose and though the focus on the purpose does not change, information relevant to better achieve that purpose is allowed to enter the mind and be assessed and actioned and if useful the behaviour is changed to achieve the purpose.
  • Whereas Narrow Mindedness is maintaining the same way of thinking throughout and thus avoiding / filtering out information whether useful or not in order to maintain the initial thought
  • Focus allows the individual to grow and be creative – by giving the mind something to solve it takes new and old information and sorts it in a way that best serves the purpose
  • Whereas Narrow Mindedness closes out information in order to keep the thinking the same as before thus stunting both growth and creativity
  • Focus as a state of mind opens the mind to new possibilities and new ways of achieving the purpose
  • Whereas Narrow Mindedness is a blocking state of mind protecting the old way of thinking
  • Focus can be related to enabling people to become more adventurous, less fearful and more productive
  • Whereas Narrow Mindedness can be related to disabling people ensuring they become more defensive, more fearful and less likely to produce anything other than what has been produced before

Narrow minded people are fearful of Focussed people unless the focus is aligned with their thinking

As an example …

A narrow minded teacher will focus on the behaviour of a pupil in a class and praise behaviour that serves the teachers own agenda and punish behaviour which the teacher perceives as acting against his / her agenda

A focussed teacher may have a purpose such as to ensure that the pupil achieves their potential and thus may attempt to alter the behaviour of the pupil only if that behaviour actually affects the pupils ability to deliver the potential

We learn in different ways:

Let’s say the teacher when learning always worked best by reading books and planning in advance and that because they found it difficult to understand and digest information they would make many notes and study well in advance of exams. A Narrow minded teacher will expect all pupils to work and learn this way regardless of what that teacher has been taught about the different learning styles

Now let’s say this teacher has someone in the class who likes to be actively involved in exercises to understand the learning and who finds it difficult to concentrate when reading theories – someone who would prefer to talk about the subject in class rather than read and digest information. What the teacher might find is that the pupil appears disruptive constantly fidgeting, asking questions, talking to other pupils and does very little reading time and yet gets good grades.

What might be the result…

The Narrow Minded teacher might have the pupil up for disruptive behaviour… not being attentive in class … lacking concentration… needs to work (read) more!

The Focussed teacher might look at the grades and the behaviour and think “If I can combine some exercises with debate and some further reading I might be able to bring out the potential of this pupil and be able to get his / her grades even higher!”

And here’s how it relates to your golf…

The Narrow Minded golfer might say to himself I want to play better and then concentrate on doing more of what he has always done – which might be more sessions at the driving range, more games of golf with the same mates, more discussions about what he is bad at in golf

The Focussed golfer will decide what “better golf” actually means to him – % of fairways hit, number of putts per round, to be in the zone on a min % of shots per round… and then go and work specifically on how everything they do relates to improving towards that purpose – which might be… keep records in this area ( identify specific weaknesses (i.e. 7 out of 10 times when I miss the fairway I miss to the right / left; 9 out of 10 times when I miss a putt I have worried about missing the putt rather than been excited about getting the ball in the hole), get a lesson on a specific area of their game which might help achieve the purpose(i.e. “If I were to improve my chipping then my first putts are likely to be closer and therefore easier)

Asking yourself whether you are a Narrow Minded golfer or a focussed golfer is the first step towards improving… the next step is to do something about achieving a specific purpose

Good Luck!

Red Fridays – The Silent Majority Shows Its Voice

Red Friday – Pass It On [ I received this by email and plan to do my bit]
Last week I was in West London attending a conference…

While I was in the airport, returning home, I heard several people behind me beginning to clap and cheer.  I immediately turned around and witnessed one of the greatest acts of patriotism I have ever seen.  Moving through the terminal was a group of soldiers in their uniforms, as they began heading to their gate everyone (well almost everyone)> was abruptly to their feet with their hands waving and cheering. When I saw the soldiers, probably 30-40 of them, being applauded and> cheered for, it hit me.

I’m not alone.

I’m not the only red blooded> Briton who still loves this country   and supports our troops and their families. Of course I immediately stopped and began clapping for these young  unsung heroes who are putting their lives on the line> everyday for us so we can go to school, work, and enjoy our home> without fear or reprisal.

Just when I thought I could not be more proud of my country or of our> service men and women a young girl, not more than 6 or 7 years old,> ran up to one of the male soldiers. He knelt down and said ‘hi,’ the little girl then asked him if he would give something to her daddy for her. The young soldier didn’t look any older than maybe 22 himself, said he would try and what did she want to give to her daddy.  Suddenly the little girl grabbed the neck of this soldier, gave him the biggest hug she could muster and then kissed him on the cheek.

The mother of the little girl, who said her daughters name was> Courtney, told the young soldier that her husband was a Corporal and> had been in Afghanistan for 5 months now. As the mum was explaining how much her daughter, Courtney, missed her> father, the young soldier began to tear up. When this temporarily single mum was done explaining her situation,> all of the soldiers huddled together for a brief second. Then one of the other servicemen pulled out a military looking walkie-talkie. They started playing with the device and talking back and forth on it.

After about 10-15 seconds of this, the young soldier walked back over> to Courtney, bent down and said this to her, ‘I spoke to your daddy and he told me to give this to you.’ He then hugged this little girl that he had just met and gave her a Kiss on the cheek. He finished by saying ‘Your daddy told me to tell you that he loves you more than anything and he is coming home very soon.’ The mum at this point was crying almost uncontrollably and as the young soldier stood to his feet he saluted Courtney and her mum. I was standing no more than 6 feet away as this entire event unfolded. As the soldiers began to leave, heading towards their gate, people> resumed their applause.

As I stood there applauding and looked around, there were very few dry> eyes, including my own.

That young soldier in one last act of moment turned around and blew a> kiss to Courtney with a tear rolling down his cheek.> > We need to remember everyday all of our soldiers and their families> and thank God for them and their sacrifices.

At the end of the day, it’s good to be British. *

RED FRIDAYS*> > Very soon, you will see a great many people wearing Red every Friday.

The reason?

British men and women who support our troops used to be called the> ’silent majority’.> > We are no longer silent, and are voicing our love for Country and home> in record breaking numbers. We are not organized, boisterous or over-bearing. We get no liberal media coverage on TV, to reflect our message or our opinions. Many British people, like you, me and all our friends, simply want to> recognize that the vast majority of  Britain supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and support for our troops with dignity> and respect starts this Friday and continues each and every Friday> until the troops all come home, sending a deafening message that every> Briton who supports our men and women afar will wear something red. By word of mouth, press, TV — let’s make Great Britain on every> Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming football team

If every one of us who loves this country will share this with> acquaintances, co-workers, friends, and family, It will not be long> before Britain is covered in RED and it will let our troops know the> once ’silent’ majority is on their side more than ever, certainly more> than the media lets on.

The first thing a soldier says when asked ‘What can we do to make> things better for you?’ is…

‘We need your support and your> prayers’…

Let’s get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by example;> and wear something red every Friday.*

IF YOU AGREE — THEN SEND THIS ON

IF YOU COULD NOT CARE LESS THEN HIT THE DELETE BUTTON.

IT IS YOUR CHOICE.

THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED—- SO WEAR RED!

Be Your Future Now!

“We examine each day before us with barely a glance and say, ‘no, this isn’t one I’ve been looking for,’ and wait in a bored sort of way for the next, when we are convinced, our lives will start for real.”

Tom Hennen – The Life of a Day

In Golf as in many sports and in life in general people tend to live life in an almost coping way waiting for the day when things will take off for them.

“Plan to achieve more than others might expect of you, Set goals for the day well above what you might expect of yourself, Practise like you have never practised before,  and Perform like this is your first and last chance to use this moment… ever!… And engage in every word to understand the deeper meaning, Now”

Keith S Forbes – Golf On The Chemical Edge

The difference between being able to do and being able to understand appears minute and yet can be enormous…

If you read either of the above quotations and thought something like that was interesting or amusing or something else then you are able to understand the meaning however in order to be able to do you need to experience the real meaning in your mind before doing … because by re-reading the quotes above, this time being the person doing the actions you can now experience what it is like to visualise your future…

Whether you play your golf on a course on a hill in  a park or private or public you can expect the best only when you put the best in!

Changing Your State Of Mind Is Easy To Do – Watch This

Playing golf in the zone is easier than you might expect or initially believe, however a change of state is just a change of emotion. As those of you who know my work intimately already know emotions are just a mixture of the chemicals you produce in your body at any one time ( http://www.di-sport.co.uk/golfarticles.html )…

And the beauty is that  you store emotions with memories of events, associations etc. and when you recall these associations you automatically put the emotions you felt at the time into your mind in the present.

The Truth of it is…

The zone states are just such an emotion or state of mind and doing something to replay in your mind a specific time when you were in the zone will lead to an automatic recreation of the zone state from that time in you – thus allowing you to play more in the zone playing more consistently and having fun more often

And Here’s the kicker…

For those who need some proof …to believe you can recreate in this way…watch this short video and notice your state change in the same way that we can recreate the zone states in you too!

Now And when you want help with your mental states in golf go directly to http://www.di-sport.co.uk/catalog/item/3280086/2804895.htm after you watch the video

Good States

Timing Is Everything In Golf

Timing is everything in golf – get it wrong and the results can be calamitous, possibly not as bad as for this forklift driver and mate…The turning of the shoulders at a pace that your subconscious can work with allows your acceleration to occur in the right place naturally

And the Truth of it is get that turning and acceleration wrong and this magnifies any errors in direction
